Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is a patient-centred, non-invasive, hands-on, regulated health care profession focused on your spine, muscles, joints and nervous system. Treatment typically involves manual therapy, often including spinal manipulation. Other forms of treatment, such as rehabilitative exercise may be used as well.

Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Nicole Ballantyne began her academic journey with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, where she also competed as a varsity athlete in women’s hockey. During her chiropractic studies, she also completed certification in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture through McMaster University.

With a rehab-focused approach, Dr. Ballantyne combines acupuncture, soft tissue therapy, and targeted exercise rehabilitation to help patients of all ages move better and live pain-free. Whether working with weekend warriors, youth athletes, or individuals managing chronic pain, her goal is always to restore optimal function through personalized, evidence-informed care.

Dr. Ballantyne brings over 25 years of experience in high-performance sport, including four seasons with the University of Waterloo Varsity Women’s Hockey team. She currently coaches with the Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association.

Ann has been practising for 30 years as a chiropractor and has brought together a group of practitioners who are not only experts in their fields but who also collaborate with one another to offer the best possible care. This group has practised together for over twenty years. Their objective beyond diagnosis and treatment is to provide a warm, caring and nurturing environment.

Ann approaches the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries with gentle adjustments, mobilizations, soft tissue release techniques, and flexibility and strength training.

Her primary focus is to relieve pain and discomfort, and to restore function, mobility, strength and flexibility. Her goal is to help her patients to return to the activities of normal living, and to avoid strain and injury by providing advice on posture, gait, lifting, carrying, sleeping, sitting and repetitive activities, and by giving strength and flexibility exercises.

Ann taught for many years at the Canadian memorial chiropractic college and at Kikkawa college.

Ann is originally from Nova Scotia, where she is drawn back to every summer. She is an avid runner and gardener, an animal lover and community volunteer. She is married and has four daughters, a dog, and a cat.
